Colonial Day

On February 3rd, fifty 5th graders attended the 2017 Colonial Day in Oklahoma City. This is the second year that Mrs. Leybas was elected to bring her students to attend the fun-filled day of colonial events. Students were able to meet Benedict Arnold, George Washington, Wyn Mabee (one of Washington’s female spies), Ben Franklin, and many other people sent to Oklahoma City from the Mt. Vernon/Williamsburg, Virginia area. Students learned about colonial games, what it took to be a spy during the revolutionary war, and debated with another school on whether to be a loyalist or a patriot during the Revolutionary War.
