What is FLEX Schedule?
FLEX time is scheduled into the day to allow for student interventions and reinforcement. Students needing academic assistance will be scheduled with specific teachers. Other students will be provided a variety of activities, called Free FLEX, to reinforce academics, behavior and attendance. Why do FLEX?
Middle School and High School staff have identified a priority of establishing time with students who need additional assistance. This could be a need due to an academic gap (classroom grades of D or F), a student missing work, time to meet with students when they have been absent, or other reasons. Those students who do not need additional assistance will be provided opportunities that reinforce their work toward academics, behavior and/or attendance. FLEX supports student achievement and accountability.
What does FLEX mean for staff?
Staff will assign students to meet with them on specific days to attend to academic needs. If no students are assigned to them, they will supervise Free FLEX areas. Staff will have the opportunity to provide additional support to students.
What does FLEX mean for students?
Students will have opportunities for being re-taught concepts, make-up missing work, connect with teachers after being absent, and establish stronger relationships with staff members. Those students who have good grades and appropriate behavior and attendance will be afforded Free FLEX time to participate in other activities.
