The Hilldale Education Foundation is a relatively new organization. Part of the purpose of HEF is to help fund education in the Hilldale district. One way the foundation helps is through teacher grants. The first year, HEF awarded $2200 to 6 recipients. The second year, HEF awarded $6200 to 14 recipients. This summer you can earn extra credit for this fall’s English class by reading books from BOB – The Hilldale Battle of the Books Reading Contest. To qualify for the extra credit, you must take and pass the AR test for every Bob book you’ve read by Wednesday, August 31 st . All tests must be taken by 3:00 p.m. that day. Fifth grader Jarrett Crawford recently won first place for the 3rd-5th Grade Division in the Muskogee County Solid Waste Trash Poster Contest! As the winner, he received $150 and Mrs. Jamie Triplett, Hilldale Elementary Art Teacher, received $25. Congratulations Jarrett & Mrs. Triplett!
The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council includes students in grades 9-12. The Council meets several times each year to discuss issues related to our school. Over the last few months, the students have been questioning what can be done about current issues with education. Dr. Coody decided they should learn how the legislature works. The 4th grade HEP students were recently named runner-up in their division for the state Humanities competition sponsored by the Oklahoma Association for Academic Competition. The OAAC assigned focus period was Impressionism which proved to be a big hit! Positive attitudes and teamwork made for the successful completion of a task well done while opening a door into a wonderful new world. Way to go 4th graders!
Dear Parents/Guardians of future 7th Grade Students, This letter is to remind parents/guardians that the Oklahoma State Board of Health added a new vaccine requirement for seventh grade students. Beginning in the fall 2011 school semester, all seventh grade students must show proof of having received one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine before attendance is allowed.
