AP Chemistry II extends the experiences of Chemistry I, and emphasizes more advanced topics that are a part of freshman level college Chemistry I and Chemistry II courses. Topics include acid/base chemistry, qualitative and quantitative analysis, reaction rates, equilibrium, and oxidation-reduction reactions.
This course is the equivalent of two freshman-level college courses, and therefore it will be more demanding than a regular high school (even Honors) class. Grading standards have been modified to prepare students for a college chemistry course.
Students should plan their schedules so that they have adequate time for completion of class assignments. Throughout the year, review for the AP exam will be given and the majority of the coursework focuses on the mastery of concepts required for passing the exam. Please note: If you wish to pass the test you must expect to spend time independently studying as the exam date approaches.
Below are several sites that will be useful to help the AP student prepare for the test.
