Character First Education

Character Education is an important part of the curriculum at Hilldale Middle School. We strive to build a common set of values among our students and staff. Each month a different Character First trait is stressed.

These traits are introduced during morning announcements and are emphasized in the discussions that occur in classrooms. We believe it is not only important to teach the concepts, but also to encourage students to apply the traits on a daily basis.

As part of our commitment to stress these values, we recognize a student each week that we feel exemplifies that month's highlighted character trait. This recognition includes a gift card to a local store, a Character First Certificate and the student's name being posted on our school marquee.
