Middle/High School Traffic Flow Information
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, traffic around the Middle School and High School will be the same as last school year, before and after school. Please follow these routes and help us keep students safe! Remember that traffic is always heavier during the first few days of the school year, especially until everyone is reminded of the procedures. Thank you for assisting us!
Middle School
- Buses will drop in the morning and pick up in the afternoon in front of the MS.
- Parent drop-off/pickup will be behind the MS gym. Cars will be allowed to move forward after buses have left the south parking lot. A single line of traffic will begin on the road behind transportation, turning-in off of Smith Ferry Road, loop around where students will be picked up behind the MS gym, and exit going on the same road in the opposite direction to Smith Ferry Road. Students will not be allowed to go to vehicles until their car is safely in the loop. At no time should students cross traffic to get into a vehicle.
- Parents coming into the office before or after school must be aware that there is very limited parking and access, due to the traffic. At other times (8:15am-2:30pm), parents may park and enter the front of the MS, as in the past. The gate at the east end of the MS entrance will be locked between 7:30-8:10 and 2:30-3:15.
- Supervision by staff will be scheduled at all areas of drop-off/pickup. Additional staff will be active in the hallways to insure students are moving to the correct area for departure.
- Overall traffic flow is designed to move vehicles off of Smith Ferry Road and to the back of the Middle School.
High School
- Buses will drop in the morning and pick up in the afternoon in front of the HS.
- Parent drop-off/pickup will be in front of the HS. Parents will pull to the yellow speed bump just west of the front office entrance. Traffic will enter the HS entrance on the south side of the building and exit the parking lot through the far west gate. The gate is open at approximately 3:00-3:05, after buses have left the south parking lot.
- Student drivers will be dismissed from classrooms at 2:55. They will proceed to their vehicles in the southwest and west parking lots. Once the buses have left the south parking lot, the far west gate will be opened for students and parents to depart.
- Supervision by staff will be scheduled at all areas of drop-off/pickup. Additional staff will be active in the hallways to insure students are moving to the correct area for departure.
- Overall traffic flow is designed to move vehicles into the HS parking lot off of Smith Ferry Road, headed west, where they will wait to exit the far west gate.
Please note that there will be no parking in the lot behind the HS (east of football field) during school hours.
