Kathy Jackson Memorial Scholarship 2021

Muskogee, OK

 

The Kathy Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in 2017 by the family of Kathy Jackson as a perpetual, memorial tribute to this much-loved mathematics teacher who served Hilldale High School for many years until her passing in 2013. Kathy modeled a great spirit of Christian service in public education and possessed a passion for teaching that has inspired a generation of students and faculty. It is her family’s hope that this scholarship will enable other aspiring educators to follow in her steps and preserve her legacy for generations to come.

 

Criteria

Students applying for this scholarship fund must meet the following criteria to be eligible to qualify:

 

  1. Be a graduating senior in good standing with Hilldale High School (HHS).

 

  1. Have been a HHS student for a minimum of 2 years.

 

  1. Have a strong interest in pursuing an education degree. (Any field of study qualifies.)

 

  1. Have a minimum high school Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better at the end of first semester of the senior year

 

Selection Process

  1. All qualifying, interested students should submit at least a one-page essay discussing personal qualifications, achievements, and their passion for education and how they plan to improve the world as a formal educator. Also, include a current resume and list of scholarships, grants, etc., applied for or received.  All documentation should be submitted to the HHS Superintendent by April 15 of each school year. Applicants are highly encouraged to be creative.

 

  1. Upon receipt of the entries, the Superintendent will “blind” the applications and forward them to the family of Kathy Jackson, who will review the documentation and announce the winner at the HHS Senior Night.

 

Financials

A one-time $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to the selected recipient. The scholarship may be used for college tuition, books, room and board or other post-secondary education expenses as seen fit by the selected applicant.
