High School and Middle School Renovation Project
Launch the media gallery 1 playerWe are excited to announce that we will soon begin much needed renovations at our high school and middle school.
Our projects are as follows:
- Secure Entrances and Centralized Offices - Offices will now be centralized so that principals, assistant principals, school counselors, and administrative assistants are located in one area. The offices for both sites will have secure entrances similar to our elementary school with access controls for visitors and parents, which will limit direct access to our students and staff. Signage for both sites.
- New Windows - All windows will be installed at our High School and Middle School.
- Exterior Renovations - The exterior of the building will be painted and the metal exterior on the front and sides of both sites will be replaced.
Project cost: 3.1 million
How is it being paid for?
- American Rescue Plan – Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) COVID Relief. We have received approval for 2.2 million to spend for the above projects. These dollars are additional funds and are not dollars that go towards salaries or staffing.
- Building Fund – We receive funds each year in our building fund from local tax collections. We currently have a building fund balance of 1,032,704.70. We usually receive about $250,000.00 a year for this fund. Last legislative session, the Red Bud Act was passed by the Oklahoma Legislature which, for the first time, allocated funds to school districts with low ad valorem valuations for maintaining and improving school building. Hilldale Public Schools will receive an additional $350,000.00 for this school year and in the future.
Timeline - This project is scheduled to start this month and projected finish date of January 2023.
What will be different?
- Middle School Offices - The current entrance to the middle school will not be accessible. Parents and guardians will need to call the office when they come up for a meeting or need to check a child out. Staff will walk the child out to you. We know this is inconvenient and appreciate your understanding.
- Construction Staging and Parking - There will be no parking on the south side of the middle school around our old administrative offices or Hilldale Virtual Academy. Parents who come to our virtual academy will have two designated spots north of the virtual building to park. This area will be used for construction staging and parking.
- Traffic - We will minimize interruptions for staff and buses. Drop off and pick up should see little interruptions.
